Jason E. Brand, OD - "Sight is such a precious gift. Sight is one of those senses that give us our independence. Sit back and think about how your life would be different without the quality of vision we all take for granted. If it is so important, why are eye exams an afterthought for so many people? Is it because we wait until we have blurry vision before realizing that there may be a problem? But what if there were no signs or symptoms, how else would you know? You wouldn’t and that is why people unnecessarily lose vision. Diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy often present without any evidence of a problem. Vision loss, as a first sign, is often irreversible. Why wait? That is why I have made it my mission to educate my patients on the importance of yearly eye exams. I have personally watched a family member literally lose their vision from an eye disease and it was devastating. I don’t want to see it happen again."

"A little background on myself: I am a board certified Optometrist. I graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2002, and I hold licenses in both Illinois and Arizona. Prior to that I graduated with honors from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT. I hold a membership with the Illinois Optometric Association and was named one of America’s top Optometrists in 2004-2005. I was recently married in September of 2008 and love to play baseball, football and racquetball in my spare time. Dr. Jason Brand is a board certified Optometrist who graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2002. Prior to that, he graduated with honors from the University of Hartford in only three years, where he double majored in Biology and Health Sciences. Dr. Brand has completed externships at the esteemed Hudson Valley VA Hospital in Montrose, NY, as well as at the Saint James Hospital in Olympia Fields, IL. He holds memberships to the Illinois Optometric Association, as well as the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association and was named one of America’s top Optometrists in 2004-2005 by the Consumer Research Council of America. Dr. Brand brings a fresh new face and refreshing personality to Miller Eye Center.
